Common questions
The viewfinder is black or there is no sound
REC needs the camera to see and the microphone to record sound with video. Open the iPhone Settings app › REC and turn on Camera and Microphone, then reopen REC.
My clip is not in my Photos
Every take lands in REC's own library first. Open the clip in the library and save or share it from there, and make sure REC is allowed to add to your Photos (iPhone Settings › REC › Photos).
An imported video is too long
REC imports videos up to 5 minutes long. Trim the video in Photos first, then import it again. Takes recorded in REC can be up to 60 seconds each.
How do I make a Compile Tape?
In the library, tap the cassette button and pick the clips you want. A tape needs at least two clips. The finished tape is saved to your Photos, not back into the library.
Back up or restore my library with iCloud
iCloud backup is part of REC Pro. Open Settings › iCloud Backup and turn on Back up to iCloud; you need to be signed in to iCloud on the iPhone. On a new phone, use Restore from iCloud: clips that are not already on the phone are added to your library. Turn on Upload videos on cellular if you want backups away from Wi-Fi.
Restore a purchase or cancel REC Pro
To bring Pro back on a new device, open Settings in REC and tap Restore Purchases. To cancel, open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then REC. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Tag clips with where they were shot
Turn on Save location in REC's Settings. If you declined location access earlier, allow it in the iPhone Settings app › REC › Location. The place stays with the clip on your phone and is never sent to us.
Change the app icon
Open Settings › App icon in REC. There are 35 icons: REC screens, transport buttons and every camera. The alternates are part of REC Pro.
Where are my videos stored?
On your iPhone. There is no account and we do not run a video server. Deleting REC deletes its library, so save clips to Photos or turn on iCloud backup first.
